Amandella Chevon Joseph is an author, poet, and avid creative and change-maker. 


Raised on the prairies of southern Alberta, Ms. Joseph enjoyed reading and writing to create a world that celebrated her racial and ethnic differences. Amandella is currently based in Calgary, Alberta. She has been writing and artistically creating for over ten years. Amandella uses her experiences as a POC, Social Worker, writer, and artist, to give a voice to the stigmatized and voiceless.

 

Amandella Joseph finds inspiration from mental health issues, grief, loss, and intersectionality. Currently, she is penning her first full-length novel entitled "Lotus" and compiling a book of her short stories entitled, "Seven".

"Seven"

The idea behind "Seven" was to challenge myself to create short works of fiction within seven minutes, start to finish. This was an exciting challenge, as my creativity (and patience with it) was pushed to it's limits. 

​

Some of the stories compiled in "Seven" include stories that highlight experiences of racism such as "Memories", historical fiction as with "Take Me Home", and fantasy as with "Sleeper". Though the stories are seemingly unrelated, they are in fact reflections of the human experience

"Eden"

They story entitled, "Eden" follows a middle-aged woman's struggle with her worsening depression and life with her emotionally abusive partner, Ruben. The status quo is suddenly disrupted when Eden makes a startling discovery that pushes her too far...
